Pause Unprofitable Keywords
Identify Low Performers
- Go to Keywords
- Filter by low ROAS or negative ROI
- Identify which keywords lose money
Pause the Keyword
- Click the keyword
- Click "Pause"
- Change takes effect in Google Ads
Track Impact
Compare the week before/after pausing. You should see improved overall ROAS.
Adjust Bids (Professional & Enterprise)
Increase Bid (Winning Keywords)
Scenario: A keyword has an 8% conversion rate and 3.5x ROAS.
- Click the keyword
- Click "Bid" → "Increase"
- Choose: +10%, +20%, or +30%
- Confirm — bid increases
Why? Higher bid = more impressions = more conversions = more ROI.
Decrease Bid (Marginal Keywords)
Scenario: A keyword is profitable but barely (1.2x ROAS).
- Click the keyword
- Click "Bid" → "Decrease"
- Choose: -10%, -20%, or custom
- Confirm — bid decreases, but keyword still shows
Why? Lower bid = less spend = similar conversions = better ROI per euro.
Smart Bid Recommendations
Go to Keywords → Recommendations to see suggested bid changes with reasoning. Review and approve/reject each one.
Bulk Actions (Professional & Enterprise)
Instead of adjusting keywords one by one, you can select multiple keywords and apply an action to all at once:
- Pause multiple keywords at once
- Adjust bids in bulk
- Apply changes across all keywords in an ad group
Automated Optimization Rules (Professional & Enterprise)
Set up rules that run automatically:
- "If conversion rate drops below 1%, pause the keyword"
- "If ROAS drops below 2x, reduce bid by 15%"
- "If ROAS exceeds 4x, increase bid by 10%"
Automated rules save you time and ensure your campaigns optimize even when you're not actively checking.
Keyword Performance Metrics
| Metric | What It Means | Good Range |
|---|---|---|
| ROAS | Return per €1 spent | 2.0x+ |
| CPC | Cost per click | Industry dependent |
| Conversion Rate | % of clicks → purchases | 2-5% (e-commerce) |
| Quality Score | Google's relevance rating | 8+ (good), 10 (perfect) |
Best Practices
Pause Strategically
Don't pause immediately if: the keyword is new (under 100 clicks), seasonal product, or long-tail (high intent even with low volume).
Do pause if: 200+ clicks and 0 conversions, negative ROAS for 2+ weeks, Quality Score consistently 3-4.
Test Bid Changes
- Pick your top 10 keywords
- Increase bid 20% on 5 of them
- Leave 5 unchanged (control group)
- After 1 week, compare performance
- If winners performed better, scale up
Limitations
From AdPredictor you can't:
- ❌ Create entirely new keywords (do that in Google Ads)
- ❌ Change match type (broad → phrase, etc.)
- ❌ Change keyword text
- ❌ Move keywords between ad groups
Avoid drastic bid changes. Increase or decrease by 10-20% at a time, not 50%. Always test before scaling.
